The museum is on Museumplein, in the museum quarter south of the city centre, next to the Stedelijk Museum and a short walk from the Rijksmuseum. Trams from Amsterdam Central Station stop nearby.

Most visitors spend about two hours on the permanent collection; add time for a temporary exhibition. After your starting time you can stay as long as you like.
